Sim贸n doesn’t understand theology, but he understands love.
At Santo Domingo Savio Parish, in the Covisan neighborhood of Villavicencio, this little dog approached just as the priest was blessing a parishioner. Without anyone teaching him, he raised his front paw and stretched it toward the priest, as if he too wanted to receive that blessing or, who knows, give it to her himself.
The priest didn’t shoo him away. On the contrary, he held that little paw with the same calm with which he touched the woman’s head. No one knows whether Sim贸n belongs to the church or is simply a four-legged neighbor who one day decided to stay. What was recorded was that strange mixture of faith and tenderness that needs no explanation to move us.
