A cabin crew member opened her meal tray and found neither chicken nor pasta. She found a severed snake’s head mixed in with the rest of the dish.
The incident occurred on a flight operated by the Turkish airline SunExpress in July 2022. According to Turkish reports, it was not the first time something like this had appeared on the airline’s meal trays: snails, insects, and mold had previously been found on different flights.
The cabin crew member recorded a video of the discovery that went viral within hours.
SunExpress described what happened as “unacceptable” and suspended the product supplied by the catering provider, Sancak Inflight.
But the company’s spokesperson, Mesut Evliyaoglu, denied that the object could have come from its kitchen, claiming that everything is cooked at 280°C.
No one explained at the time how a snake’s head ended up in that dish. 🐍
