Sanjay Gurjar was working his shift like any other Monday when a male leopard suddenly burst into the liquor store where he works in Todaraisingh, Rajasthan. The animal had previously attacked a forest volunteer and Fateh Lal Koli, 40, on nearby streets.
Security cameras captured everything: the leopard jumping onto the counter, knocking over bottles, prowling among the shelves while Gurjar tried to get out alive. With injuries to his hand, shoulder and nose, the shopkeeper managed to push the animal away, escape the premises and pull down the shutter to leave it trapped inside.
Wildlife authorities took five hours to calm the leopard, which was finally captured at around 2 in the afternoon. Gurjar and the other two injured people were hospitalized. The animal, which reports say is about 5 years old, had come down from the wooded hills surrounding the town.
