A man is loading boxes next to a U-Haul truck in a parking lot in Lebanon, New Hampshire, when something the size of a domestic cat shoots out from beneath the vehicle.
It snatches his bag, bites his feet, and before he can react, disappears beneath the chassis again. It was all captured on a security camera. Police reviewed the video and confirmed something disturbing: it is the same animal responsible for two other attacks that occurred in just 48 hours, all in the Centerra Park area.
Not even the officers know for certain what creature it is. It could be a gray fox or a fisher, a type of marten uncommon in urban areas, but no one has seen it up close to confirm. Police Chief Phillip Roberts explained that this level of aggression is usually a sign of illness, possibly rabies. They are now working with Fish and Game to track it down before it attacks a fourth time.
