Timothy J. Reaggle was 20 years old when he decided he wasn’t going to set foot in prison.
He had just heard the sentence—one year behind bars—in the Columbiana County Court in Ohio when a deputy escorted him down a hallway toward the exit. Security cameras captured the exact moment. Reaggle freed himself from the handcuffs, turned around, and punched the officer directly in the throat. Without pausing, he lowered his shoulder and charged another officer, knocking him to the floor before running toward a staircase.
He tripped at the foot of the stairs and fell into the arms of a third officer, but managed to break free again and ran toward the main door. There, he was hit in the back by a Taser discharge. Three officers subdued him on the floor while one restrained him with a chokehold.
Sheriff Brian McLaughlin confirmed that both officers suffered bone fractures during the struggle, although they have since been released from the hospital. Reaggle remains in the county jail and will face charges of assaulting an officer and aggravated escape, in addition to the sentence he was already serving for a violent assault that occurred in February 2025.
