What was supposed to be an impeccable graduation ceremony for Navy canine units ended with a scene as unexpected as it was tense in the Valparaíso Region, Chile.

During the event held on May 7, a drug-sniffing dog suddenly lunged at Vice Admiral Arturo Oxley and focused its attention on one of his pockets, biting and tearing part of his pants in front of authorities and guests.

Although the officer was not injured, the moment was captured on video and went viral days later on social media. According to the Navy, the animal experienced an episode of overexcitement associated with its age, temperament, and the ceremony environment, so it was subjected to a specialized retraining process.
