When the ground began to shake, these young women in Colombia had a reaction that quickly went viral.
Amid the fear caused by the earthquake, they decided to take shelter inside a refrigerator. To do so, they took out the food and objects inside it and climbed in while the shaking continued.

The video is unusual because it is hard to imagine that someone might consider a refrigerator a hiding place during an earthquake. But those who have experienced an earthquake know that fear can make people react completely impulsively.
That said, a refrigerator is not a recommended place to take shelter during an earthquake. Standard safety recommendations advise taking cover in a safe indoor location, away from windows and objects that could fall, and to drop, cover, and hold on until the shaking stops.

In this case, they probably simply acted on instinct out of fear.
And although the video sparked thousands of jokes on social media, it also raises a rather serious question: do we really know what to do when an earthquake begins, or do we simply react as best we can?
