During the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that shook the Philippines last June 8, a security camera captured a scene that has moved thousands of people on social media.
In the footage, a child remains seated on the sofa in his home while the furniture and walls begin to shake. Confused by what is happening, he barely has time to react. Seconds later, his grandmother runs into the room.
Without hesitation, she picks him up and tries to get him to safety while the shaking continues. When both of them end up on the floor, the woman uses her own body to protect her grandson. So far, the earthquake has left a toll of 36 dead and 167 missing.
