A mother came to a cell phone store in Henan, China, accompanied by her son. The young man’s phone had been damaged in an accident, and she wanted to find a solution, even though the family was struggling financially.
The technician explained that repairing it would cost too much, so he recommended buying another one. The young man chose a model priced between 5.000 and 6.000 yuan, between US$700 and US$840, but his mother couldn’t afford it.
The woman, who also had to pay for a vehicle repair, offered him one for 2.699 yuan, approximately US$380. However, the young man reacted furiously: he threw his damaged phone on the floor and stormed out of the store.
The most touching moment came afterward. His mother didn’t scold him. She simply bent down and began picking up the pieces of the device.
According to the account that circulated, she was wearing old clothes, even with holes in them, as she tried to give her son something within her means.
The video sparked widespread criticism.
But the story had a hopeful ending: the store owner visited the family with fruit and helped the young man apologize to his mother.
A scene that reminded many people that behind what a parent cannot afford to buy, there is sometimes a sacrifice their children still don’t understand.
