Karolina Karley only wanted to spread joy. In San Juan de Lurigancho, Peru, the TikToker was handing out toys for Children’s Day, prioritizing those who had the least, when a girl rejected the doll she received and demanded a bigger one.
They gave it to her. She rejected that one too and asked for the first one back. She cried and insisted, and even other mothers in line asked Karley to give in. She responded firmly: “Gifts shouldn’t be picked”, and then uttered a phrase that ended up inflaming the controversy: “That’s why I don’t have children, I think”.
Some say the girl is simply learning to manage her emotions and that teaching gratitude is the parents’ responsibility. Others believe that no one set limits in time. Which side are you on?
