The Cuban content creator Cuba Swe went viral after saying that his foreign partner simply doesn’t dare call him “my little Black guy” as a term of endearment for fear that someone will call her out… or that he might end up offended.

In the video, the influencer explained with a laugh that in Cuba words like “Black” or “little Black guy” are usually used in a super everyday and affectionate way, even between people of different skin tones, so for him the nickname never had an offensive intention. However, his girlfriend seems too worried about how it could be interpreted outside the Latin context.

The situation ended up sparking a fun but intense debate on social media about the enormous cultural differences between countries, especially when expressions considered normal or affectionate in Latin America can be seen as inappropriate or controversial in other parts of the world.
