After remaining missing for a month and a week following the double earthquake that affected Venezuela, Felix, a 4-year-old cat, starred in one of the most emotional reunions to come out of the rescue efforts.

The feline was found alive among the rubble in Catia La Mar, Vargas state. Those who took part in the rescue said he was extremely dehydrated, malnourished, and had several injuries, very different from the overweight cat his family remembered.

After being urgently transferred to a veterinary care center set up in Caraballeda, the medical team began stabilizing him. That was when the moment that moved everyone occurred.

His owner, who had searched for him tirelessly since the day of the disaster, arrived at the site after learning that a rescued cat might be Felix. As she approached, she spoke to him in a trembling voice:
“I’m here now, my love… Mommy is here.”

Upon hearing her, Felix reacted immediately; the little one began looking for her with his eyes and moving closer as he received caresses, a scene many users described as a true miracle. On social media, thousands of people commented that he seemed to “cry” with happiness upon seeing her again.

The veterinarian and his team continued treatment to help him recover completely, while images of the reunion went around the world.

Felix’s story became one of the symbols of hope after the tragedy, reminding us that even after weeks under extreme conditions, happy endings can still happen.
