Clarence Coyl was recording with his own cellphone when everything got out of control.
The Arizona man had argued minutes earlier with an officer from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for trying to fish in the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge. According to his account to 12 News and AZ Family, he and a friend left the area after being accused of trespassing. Shortly afterward, at a gas station on the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation, he encountered whom he believes was the same agent.
The video shows the officer holding the Taser as Coyl asks why he is being arrested. When the device is fired, the camera falls and captures the area filling with a yellow glow as a man screams in pain. Another witness recorded the scene from several meters away: the officer can be seen between a pickup truck and the pump, and seconds later flames burst out from beneath the vehicle.
Coyl suffered first- and second-degree burns and nerve damage in two fingers. He has not been formally charged and is already preparing legal action against the officer, while the agency confirmed the use of the Taser without providing further details.
