A video recording captured in a residential area of Barranquilla, Colombia, went viral on the internet by exposing a quick act of self-defense against urban crime.
The images show a man with reduced mobility who remained in his wheelchair on the terrace of his home when he noticed something strange after two suspicious individuals approached on a motorcycle.
Faced with the possibility of being assaulted, the victim pulled out a weapon to protect himself from the criminals and verbally confronted the strangers while showing them what he had in his hand to intimidate them. “They were coming to rob me, but I was waiting for them”, the man explained, and with this action he managed to make the motorcyclists speed up and quickly flee the residential perimeter without carrying out the apparent robbery.
