It was 5:18 a.m. on Wednesday in Center City, Philadelphia, and someone wearing a white Chucky mask was chasing a woman who was screaming for help.
Police say the suspect, between 16 and 20 years old, spent about 15 minutes randomly approaching at least six people near City Hall. He followed a 40-year-old jogger with his phone in hand, asking her if she was ready to die; she ended up injuring her leg while escaping. He then tried to force his way into a Dunkin’ Donuts and a La Colombe café, but the staff wouldn’t let him in.
That was when Jameka, who had tried to warn the jogger from across the street, became the new target. Instead of running, she kicked him in the chest. The young man, disoriented and taking nothing even though she was carrying bags, ran toward Suburban Station. Police are still searching for him, and he is already facing charges of terroristic threats and simple assault.
