Reina Danesy Erazo is 3 years old and disappeared on a Sunday at 3 in the afternoon.
It happened in the village of Juan Lázaro, in Sonaguera, Colón. Her father, Marco Tulio, and her grandmother, Reina Arita, organized a search with neighbors and the National Police that continued all night through the mountainous area.
No one knew how such a small girl could survive alone, barefoot, among ravines and dense brush.
They found her nearly 24 hours later, sitting on a rock in the middle of a puddle, disoriented but alive.
The family dog, which had also gone missing with her, appeared in the same area, and several residents say it was the animal that guided the rescuers.
Reina only managed to say that she had gotten lost and could not find the way home.
