What began as an afternoon of drinks between two men who had just met ended in a murder captured by security cameras at a Florida marina.

Kamal Padlowski, 52, was sentenced this week to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the first-degree murder of Melvin Jimenez, 47,. The crime occurred during Memorial Day weekend in 2024.

According to the investigation, the two met that same day at a bar near the Ruskin marina and later continued drinking on Padlowski’s boat with his fiancée.

Hours later, a fight broke out.

The cameras recorded Padlowski hitting Jimenez and grabbing him by the neck. During the confrontation, he pushed him against the fiberglass dock, causing him to hit his head hard.

But the scene did not end there.

The footage shows Padlowski dragging Jimenez by the ankles and throwing his motionless body into the water. Instead of helping him, he returned to his boat and took two kitchen knives while waiting for the police to arrive.

Padlowski claimed during the trial that he had acted in self-defense and said that Jimenez had threatened him. However, the jury rejected that account and found him guilty.

During sentencing, Judge Michelle Sisco said that from the first time she saw the video “she couldn’t believe it was real” and questioned the lack of compassion she observed in the defendant.
