Cynthia Benítez Fernández only wanted to swim among sea turtles.

The turquoise water, the calm of the moment, those giant creatures gliding around her: the scene seemed straight out of a nature documentary. She ventured to stroke one of the turtles as it floated peacefully, unaware that the animal had other plans.
Within seconds, the turtle approached and bit her, causing a startled scream that was captured on video and is already circulating among thousands of users on social media. No details about injuries are known, but the episode left one clear lesson: even the most peaceful turtles do not want that much human contact. Marine wildlife experts continue to insist on the same thing as always — admire them from a distance, never touch them.
