At 30 feet high, above the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Selma Avenue in Hollywood, someone is living inside a billboard.

Netflix installed a complete living room —bay window, sofa, binoculars— inside a giant billboard, and on Thursday, August 6, 2026, a performer moved in there for real. He will not come out until Saturday. He does not speak to anyone: he communicates with pedestrians and drivers looking up at him from below through a whiteboard, as if it were a message from another dimension.

It is all part of the campaign for ‘The Last House,’ the film Netflix released on August 7 about a family trapped and unable to leave their own home. The irony is that while Greta Lee and Wagner Moura’s fiction depicts desperation and scarcity, the man in the billboard is enduring a heat wave in Los Angeles with air conditioning and a privileged view of Hollywood.
