The man only wanted to do his job: stretch the measuring tape over Tom’s back, a brown bear in his care in Russia, and jot down a couple of routine details.
But Tom didn’t understand the measurements. He understood something else. As soon as he felt the caregiver’s arms around him to take his measurements, he responded in the only way a bear who trusts his human knows how: he wrapped his own paws around him and covered his face with licks. For a second, before the gesture turned tender, the veterinarian’s fright was noticeable, trapped beneath nearly 200 kilos of affection that was not quite reciprocated.
The video, first published in Russia, has already been making the rounds online for weeks. And it’s not hard to understand why: even the largest animal in the forest, when it trusts someone, just wants to be hugged back.
“POV: When you’re trying to work and your partner or your dog want attention”, commented thousands of fascinated users. The scene not only drew laughs with the classic energy of “an ordinary day in Russia”, but also reminded everyone how beautiful and unbreakable the bond between a rescued animal and the person who cares for it every day can be. 🥺🥰✨
