As soon as he learned that the Rio de Janeiro Court had granted him a new habeas corpus, Brazilian rapper Mauro Davi dos Santos Nepomuceno went live in front of his followers and, camera in hand, began removing the electronic monitor he had been wearing on his ankle for months.
The arrest order that still hung over him was revoked this Wednesday the 23rd, and with it his status as a fugitive also vanished. For Oruam, the device was the visible mark of a legal process that was pursuing him; seeing it fall to the floor during the live broadcast was the most direct way to announce that, at least for now, he is a free man.
