Steven Kolb runs the organization that decides what is and isn’t seen at New York Fashion Week. On Sunday, during the COS show in Manhattan, he decided on something different: becoming security himself.
Two PETA activists had entered shouting “get the wool off the runway”. Instead of letting staff remove them, Kolb grabbed them with his own hands, snatched their signs away, and covered one of their mouths. He pushed Mason Melito, 22, into a corner. He pinned another to the ground, wrapping his leg around their body. All while the models kept walking in front of Lupita Nyong’o, Sharon Stone, and John Boyega, as if nothing were happening just inches from the runway.
Then came the apology: he admitted that he had “reacted inappropriately” and requested a temporary leave from the CFDA. PETA has already filed complaints with the police and is considering criminal charges. Wool, meanwhile, remains unbanned at New York fashion shows.
