She was 105 years old when the ground collapsed on top of her.

Her house came down in seconds, but she remained alive among the columns of rubble, in a space so small that it barely allowed her to breathe. She stayed there, motionless, for 24 hours, while outside, rescue teams dug layer by layer without knowing whether they would find a body or a miracle.

She did not scream. She could not. She simply waited, with the weight of her own home pressing on her chest, while the clock worked against her and hope grew thinner with every passing hour. The rescuers worked, guided by a thread of life that could barely be detected by the sensors, digging with their hands during the final meters so they would not hurt her.

When they finally moved the last block, they found her conscious. A woman who had lived more than a century and who, for 24 hours, had been closer to death than at any other point in her life.
