Elías Jorge never finished school.

All his life, he worked so that his son Pertiano Sossa could study, and when working was not enough, he sold what he had. Pertiano is now a teacher and writer, has a university degree and three postgraduate degrees. And he decided it was time to give something back.
In April, at the Yeda Barradas Carneiro Municipal School in Morro do Chapéu, Brazil, Pertiano entered the adult education classroom with a cake and flowers. In front of everyone, he told the story of his father: how he gave up his own dreams to pay for the best possible education for his son. Elías, already elderly, was moved to tears as he listened.
Now he is the one returning to the classroom, while Pertiano is the one who buys his notebooks and helps him with his homework. The video, recorded that day, has already surpassed one million views. The phrase Elías repeated despite having no formal education ended up educating an entire family: life can take everything away from you except knowledge.
