On April 28, Father Óscar Echeverri was recording content for his social media when a wooden cross came loose and fell on him.
The blow struck him on the head, though not directly. He fell to the ground, got up immediately, put the cross back in place, and the camera kept recording. Echeverri is a Eudist priest and content creator and, according to media reports, escaped with only a minor blow.
The video resurfaced almost six months later, after the death of Father Patricio Sánchez in Guayaquil, Ecuador: on October 17, a wooden and iron cross came loose from the wall during a Mass livestream and struck him. Authorities are investigating what went wrong.
Echeverri had written on Facebook: “The date, the cause, and the place where we are meant to die—THAT is what they are, and no others”.
