January 1980, Northern Ireland. Jackie Fullerton was hosting Good Evening Ulster as on any other night, interviewing Martin Ruane live, better known as Giant Haystacks: nearly two meters tall and weighing 270 kilos, he was intimidating just by standing there.

History Defined

Fullerton, at just 1,68 m and 79 kg, tossed out a question that sounded like a joke but Haystacks did not take it that way: he questioned whether professional wrestling was real. There was no second warning. The wrestler lifted him off the floor and slammed him into the studio floor with such force that the impact was heard throughout the studio.

History Defined

Fullerton ended up with several broken ribs, but refused to give in: he continued the interview in pain, in front of the cameras, as if nothing had happened. That reaction, almost as surprising as the blow itself, is why the clip is still circulating more than four decades later.
