In 2009, Chilean television host Martín Cárcamo was experiencing one of the most intense periods of his career. He was a judge at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival and also hosted the program “Calle 7”. It was during that period that he began experiencing severe pain in his face, which he initially attributed to exhaustion.
But the explanation he found some time later was much more disturbing.
While people were cleaning his house, one of the workers found a small blond doll hidden inside a closet. What immediately drew attention was that it had several pins stuck in its face.
Cárcamo said years later that, upon learning of the discovery, his family linked the doll to the pain he had been experiencing. According to his account, they decided to throw it away and later sought out someone to perform a “cleansing”.
The host has publicly recounted the episode as a case of witchcraft and has claimed that the situation really happened. However, there is no independent evidence demonstrating that the doll caused his pain or that it was in fact part of a voodoo ritual.
The story is especially striking because the object was not found just anywhere: it appeared hidden inside his own home, during one of the periods of greatest public exposure in his career. Years later, Cárcamo recalled the episode again on television, including the strange discovery that, according to him, completely changed the way he interpreted that pain.
