Several videos circulating on social media show children crying inconsolably while their parents laugh beside them. They show them a fake ultrasound, assuring them that they have a worm in their stomach from eating so much candy.
For some users, it was an ingenious way to curb excessive sugar consumption. For others, it is a filmed humiliation that can leave scars: fear of food, distrust of their own parents, and the feeling that their distress is a reason for laughter.
Experts say that this trend causes more harm than benefits for the child: the bond of trust is broken, a potential bully could be formed by seeing how they are mocked, and possible eating disorders.
What do you think: is it a family joke with no major consequences or a form of abuse disguised as humor?
