Amulya Rattan was recording a video showing off her outfit when a man walked behind her and briefly appeared in the shot. The influencer became annoyed and claimed that he had “ruined” her video, even though he was simply walking through a public space.
“There is zero sense, zero. Someone is filming a video, just go in between. Where is civic sense?”, she complained. She also objected to the fact that the man had not apologized for appearing in her recording.
The video quickly sparked criticism on social media. Many users questioned why a person simply walking down a street should have to worry about appearing in the content of someone who is recording.
The controversy grew precisely because of the expression “civic sense”, as several users felt that the influencer was demanding that others adapt to her recording. Some even joked that next time the street would have to be closed so she could record in peace.
After the criticism, Rattan explained that she knew she was in a public space and said that she had moved several times to avoid bothering anyone. She also said that there was a group of men behind her who made her feel uncomfortable and acknowledged that she could have expressed her annoyance better.
