The images show one of the most shocking moments left by the powerful earthquake that shook Colombia.
The Hospital Universitario del Valle, one of Cali’s main healthcare centers, suffered severe damage to its infrastructure following the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the country on the morning of August 10.

Videos shared on social media show the moment part of the hospital’s structure collapses, raising a huge cloud of dust as the earthquake continues.
The scene is especially harrowing because it involves a building intended precisely to handle emergencies and receive people in critical situations.
The earthquake had its epicenter in San José del Palmar, in the department of Chocó, and was strongly felt in different regions of Colombia. Cali, Pereira, and Manizales were among the cities where damage to buildings was reported.

Authorities and emergency agencies activated protocols to assess the affected structures and assist people who were trapped or injured.
The hospital video quickly became one of the most striking records of the earthquake, showing in seconds the enormous force with which an earthquake of this magnitude can strike.
