Subcision is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to improve depressed scars, such as those left by acne or some surgeries.

The technique consists of inserting a needle or cannula under the skin to cut the fibers that “pull” the surface downward and cause the depression. By releasing those bands, the skin can gradually return to its normal level and look smoother.

In addition, the small controlled trauma stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, helping to regenerate the tissue. It is performed with local anesthesia, is usually safe, and recovery is quick, although it may cause swelling or mild bruising for a few days.
