A veterinarian treated a 25-year-old horse that had a fairly common problem in older animals: uneven wear on the molars, sharp enamel points, and food buildup that was causing discomfort while eating.

To carry out the procedure, the specialist placed a metal mouth gag in its mouth and began a dental cleaning and filing, known as “floating”, a routine intervention that helps horses chew without pain.

The recording of the treatment went viral because it shows up close how veterinarians care for the dental health of these older animals.
