A neighbor’s camera didn’t lie. A young woman talks with a man on the corner of a street in Argentina. He leaves. She is left alone.

What happens next is what no one can explain. The young woman moves backward, dragging herself along the asphalt, until she reaches the edge of a storm drain. She takes off her shoes. And climbs down.

Minutes later, she comes out on her own. Some neighbors, alerted by the scene, approach to ask if she is all right. She gives a brief reply and walks away alone, into the predawn darkness. The next day, when the neighborhood was already talking about the video, someone looked inside the drain. Her jacket and purse were still there, with makeup inside but not a single document identifying who she was. No one has identified her yet.
