Cow manure, water, and a bottle were all Dominican creator Yeimi Rodríguez needed to create one of the most important treasures of our time: gas.

The content creator, who takes a natural and environmentally conscious approach, mixed the manure with water until it was almost liquid, then filled half a bottle with the mixture and sealed it with a perforated cap, through which she inserted a serum set, and left it for about two weeks in a warm place.
In the video, she showed how the bottle inflated with the gas that had accumulated inside, and by opening the serum set’s regulator, she managed to light a flame that could be made bigger or smaller.
The science behind it is real. It’s called anaerobic digestion: bacteria that live without oxygen break down organic matter and release biogas, composed mostly of methane, which is what burns, and carbon dioxide. This is how biodigesters on farms and in rural communities work; they also produce a liquid fertilizer called biol.
The amount of gas depends on the material and the temperature, and although a bottle is not equivalent to a biodigester that someone could use to cook with at home, this could be the beginning of new, cleaner fuels.
