Aditya Bhan Singh had only gone to inspect the power supply of a tower.
It was Thursday night in Hardauli, a village in Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, India. Residents had spent nearly two years complaining about terrible 5G service, despite having a private tower installed right there. When they saw the technician arrive, they did not let him pass: they surrounded him, berated him over the poor connection, and eventually tied him to the very structure that was supposed to provide them with coverage.
Singuh spent nearly two hours tied up there, while the villagers demanded that an executive from the phone company come in person to resolve the problem. The police arrived and freed him, and the following day he filed a formal complaint. Six people were arrested and later released on bail, while the investigation is ongoing.
