Justin Sholly, 29, was a volunteer with the Perseverance Fire Company in Souderton, Pennsylvania 🔥 Between May 29 and 31, 2026, he set three separate fires in the townships of Souderton and Franconia — and then climbed onto the truck with his colleagues to put them out. For 30 hours he played that double role without anyone suspecting him.
One of the fires was deliberately set near the home of his former boss, the man who had fired him in 2025 😤. Another fire burned just 15 meters from two occupied houses. In total, 18 people were exposed to danger. Fortunately, no one was injured.
What gave him away was a lethal combination of carelessness: surveillance cameras, neighbors’ testimony, and, above all, what they found in his vehicle and garage — logs, fire-starting liquid, a BIC lighter, and materials for starting fires. He allegedly confessed to detectives. His own colleagues said they had been looking for the person responsible without imagining he was sleeping in the same firehouse.
