“My message to children is that they should be respectful to their parents, to everyone, and that they should dream big to achieve everything they want”, was Vozinha’s message to the youngest during his presentation with Colo Colo in Chile.
He grew up on the streets of Cape Verde, went through smaller clubs and leagues without anyone really betting on him and, for years, recognition never came. Until a World Cup changed everything.
He played as if he had spent his whole life waiting for that moment, was named to the tournament’s best XI and ended up as the competition’s best goalkeeper.
