In the late 90s, Warner Bros. had an idea that sounded perfect on paper: revive ‘The Incredible Mr. Limpet’, the 1964 comedy about a man who turns into a fish, but now with Jim Carrey in the lead role.

The problem was that Carrey cost too much to appear on screen for just a few minutes before transforming into an animated fish. So the studio decided on something unusual: keep his human face, digitally captured, attached to a fish’s body. They spent around 10 million dollars on tests.

The result, according to director Brad Bird, was so disturbing that the project was shelved for years until it disappeared forever. Not a single scene was ever released 🎬
