Emily Osment was 29 years old when she had to film her first kissing scene on “Young Sheldon”. On the other side was Montana Jordan, who was 18.

The actress, who played Mandy McAllister, didn’t hide it in the book “Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw’s-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy”: “I was uncomfortable with him being 18. He was a baby! A baby with a mullet haircut”. Eleven years separated Mandy from Georgie Cooper, and Osment felt those scenes couldn’t be filmed as if nothing was wrong.

She asked for an intimacy coordinator to be on set. It wasn’t possible to get one for the first scene, but from the following episodes onward, the professional was present. “With one present, everything was easier. I think it’s something very important”, she said. What worried her most was that her co-star knew he could also ask for that support.

Director Alex Reid acknowledged that the production had overlooked that need, and co-creator Steve Molaro supported the actress’s decision. 🎬
