Adriene was born without eyes.
She did not lose her sight over the years or in an accident; she came into the world with complete bilateral cryptophthalmos, a condition so rare that it prevented her eyes from forming while she was in her mother’s womb.
Just a few years into adulthood, she became a single mother of two daughters. No one taught her how to do it without seeing a face, reading a smile, or telling at a glance whether something was wrong.
So she learned another language. By the time she had her second daughter, she already knew how to distinguish every cry: the hungry one, the bored one, the one that announced something was wrong. Where others needed their eyes, she trained her ears, her hands, and her instincts.

When she began sharing her life on TikTok, the comments started coming. That her daughters must do everything for her. That a blind mother cannot truly raise children.
Her family responded with facts, not speeches: when they were little, she was the one who did everything for her daughters, not the other way around.
No one handed her a manual. She wrote it herself, by listening where others only looked.
Because some obstacles change the path, and some people mistake a different path for an impossible one. Adriene did not raise her daughters despite the darkness. She raised them through it.
