Daquan Minor was 16 years old when a traffic accident changed his life forever.
The injury to his spinal cord left him paralyzed from the waist down. During the months of rehabilitation, one thing stayed with him: the way the physical and occupational therapists helped him regain each small movement. That was when he decided that one day he would do the same for others.
In May 2026, at the age of 29, Daquan graduated with a Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University in the United States. But what happened onstage was unlike any graduation: with the help of an electrical stimulation device that activates the nerves and muscles in his legs, he stood up and walked a short distance to receive his diploma. Thirteen years after being told he would never walk again, he took those steps in front of everyone.
