George didn’t come into Ryan Gosling’s life as a puppy, but that didn’t stop them from ultimately spending 17 years practically inseparable 🥺. The actor adopted the mixed-breed dog when he was already an adult and from then on began taking him everywhere, even at times when we normally wouldn’t expect to see a Hollywood star’s pet.
George went with him to film sets, work trips, interviews, and television appearances. In 2011, for example, Gosling took him on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where he said George used to accompany him while he worked and joked about his distinctive mohawk-style haircut.
But behind those appearances was a much deeper bond. George was by the actor’s side for much of his adult life, and Gosling came to describe him as “the love of my life”. When the dog died in 2016, the actor lost the companion who had been by his side for nearly two decades.
Later, he began wearing an identification tag bearing George’s name around his neck as a way to keep him close. He has also spoken publicly about the emptiness his passing left behind and how special George was to him.
