What was supposed to be a trip to celebrate 15 years of marriage ended up becoming a disappearance that left many questions unanswered.
Thomas Gigler, a 56-year-old programmer and father of three, was traveling with his wife aboard the Carnival Panorama, a cruise ship sailing along the coast of Mexico toward California. However, something unexpected happened during the voyage: the man disappeared in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

His family alerted the crew when they couldn’t find him. After reviewing the security footage, the ship’s staff confirmed that Gigler had jumped into the sea from deck 11, although the circumstances that led him to do so remain unclear.
The United States Coast Guard and Mexican authorities launched a search operation that lasted more than 41 hours. However, they were unable to find him and eventually suspended the search.

What is most baffling to those close to him is that they can’t understand what might have happened. His sister said the family was shocked by what happened and ruled out any known marital problems.
Thomas was just days away from celebrating his anniversary with Michelle, with whom he had three children. Now, his disappearance has left his loved ones grappling with a question that still has no answer: what really happened that night in the middle of the ocean?
