The problem wasn’t the prank itself: it was how Ashton presented it on air, with comments about her and the Olsen twins, who had just turned 17.
What disturbed users the most wasn’t just that he said it in front of the cameras, but that the editing team decided to leave it in the final cut. “MTV was the worst with this kind of thing”, wrote one user who brought the video back to light.
