“I don’t think we should criticize or judge others. We are all children of God. We are who we are. I simply think we should be more loving, more supportive; we are who we are. If you’re gay, you’re gay. If you’re heterosexual, you’re heterosexual, and you should be allowed to be who you are.” said the singer, without drama, without asking permission.
Some celebrate that a figure so beloved by conservative audiences openly defends the LGBTQ+ community from the standpoint of her faith.
Others believe that mixing religion with acceptance is contradictory, or insufficient.
