Shaquille O’Neal has 400 million dollars and a rule that his own children don’t always understand.
On the Earn Your Leisure podcast, the former NBA player said that his heirs are already adults and are upset with him, although deep down they can’t understand why their father doesn’t make things easier for them. He repeats it to them bluntly: “We’re not rich; I’m the rich one”. If any of them wants him to invest in a project, they must first have a college degree and present it to him in person, because he has no intention of giving anything away.
But the most moving part comes at the end. O’Neal reminds his children that he comes from nothing, and that neither money nor fame makes him better than anyone else. A different way of loving: demanding effort instead of providing comfort.
