Yandra Mawé is six years old and grew up by the river and the forest.

Now, from the Sahuapé Indigenous community in Iranduba, she uses her voice to talk about what families are going through: smoke from the fires has reached near her home and makes it difficult to breathe. She also mentioned eye irritation and classes interrupted by poor air quality.

Her appeal came in a critical month: through September 22, 2026, Amazonas recorded 3.240 fires, 244 % more than in the same period in 2025. Yandra asked people not to burn trash or throw waste into rivers. Before saying goodbye with her “jaguar kiss”, she left a weighty phrase: “Without nature, our world cannot live”.
