Walter and Aldana had been married in a conventional marriage for 13 years when she proposed something that changed everything.
Fiama had worked for Walter before becoming his second wife. Just three months ago, she joined the relationship, and today all three sleep in the same bed, on a property in Sauce Viejo, Santa Fe, where they have two houses: one for the adults and another for the six children who live with them.
In total, they number 12 —four of Aldana’s, two of Walter’s and two of Fiama’s— and form a blended family that, with everyone together, numbers more than 45 people.
Since neither Argentina nor Uruguay legally recognizes a marriage of three, they had to pay a fine so they could get married anyway. The celebration was held in Santo Tomé, with 100 guests, a cake decorated with a Boca jersey and a gold tie for the groom.
Behind closed doors, they say there are no fixed hierarchies: disagreements are resolved by talking or by a vote, and they maintain that each week they have one free pass to preserve the balance among the three.
