“Well, well, well… what do we have here?” wrote Edinburgh Zoo, Scotland, alongside a photo of two capybaras in the water. Nothing unusual, in theory.
But the animals’ pose had an interpretation that no one on social media let go unnoticed. Far from deleting the post, the zoo joined in on the joke with that suspiciously knowing caption, and racked up more than 880 thousand “likes” within a matter of days. Thousands of users commented with the same joke: the timing of that photo couldn’t have been worse… or better, depending on how you look at it.
The curious thing is that the zoo has four capybaras, including Rodney and Luna, the pair that had a baby this year, presented as the first capybara born in Scotland in 18 years. They never clarified whether the protagonists of the photo were them. Maybe they were just very close together in the water, as they say. Maybe not. 👀
