Enes Kanter Freedom went to watch a women’s basketball game in the WNBA and ended up becoming the center of attention.
The former NBA player sat in the front row of the stadium wearing a shirt that read “WOMAN: noun. Adult woman”, during a game between Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky.
During a timeout in the third quarter, Natasha Cloud, Chicago Sky’s 34-year-old point guard, approached him shouting and with her arms outstretched in a defiant manner. Security had to intervene to separate them and remove him from the stadium.
The confrontation comes just as Kanter Freedom declared himself eligible for the 2027 WNBA draft, claiming that he meets the criteria of the league’s collective bargaining agreement.
All of this amid the debate that had already been escalating week after week, with Sophie Cunningham as another prominent voice opposing trans inclusion in women’s basketball. How far will this fight go?
